TOO PRECIOUS TO BE ABANDONED (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: John 6:39 (KJV) - “And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.”

GOD DOES NOT LOSE WHAT HE OWNS: One profound assurance believers must hold on to, is that God does not abandon what belongs to Him. Salvation brings us into divine ownership; we are no longer our own. Even when a believer strays, God’s covenant claim remains intact. The Father’s will is clear—none given to Christ should be lost. This truth reveals that restoration is always God’s agenda, not rejection. Though a believer may wander through weakness or sin, heaven still recognizes divine ownership. (Isaiah 43:1; 1 Corinthians 6:19–20)

BACKSLIDING DOES NOT EQUAL REJECTION: Backsliding is a spiritual condition, not a permanent sentence. Scripture consistently shows that God calls His people back, not away. The Lord distinguishes between rebellion and return. A believer who falls into sin is not cast off, but lovingly corrected and drawn back by grace. God’s mercy creates a pathway home, reminding us that His compassion is greater than our failures. (Jeremiah 3:22; Hosea 14:4)

THE SHEPHERD’S COMMITMENT TO RESTORATION: Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd, is personally committed to restoring fallen believers. He does not outsource restoration; He pursues it Himself. The Shepherd goes after the lost sheep not to condemn it, but to carry it back to safety. This reveals Christ’s heart—firm against sin, yet gentle toward the sinner. His love refuses to let the redeemed perish in error. (Luke 15:5–7; John 10:11)

PRAYER:

Father, I thank You because I belong to You and You do not abandon Your own. Wherever I have wandered in heart, thought, or action, draw me back by Your mercy. I receive grace to respond to Your call of restoration. Let every chain of spiritual weakness be broken, and restore me fully into alignment with Your will. I declare that I will not be lost, forgotten, or rejected, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

Lamentations 3:31–32 (KJV): “For the Lord will not cast off for ever: But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.”
