THE POWER OF COMPASSION (PART 5)

KEY TEXT: Lamentations 3:22 KJV – “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.”

Compassion is the channel through which God’s mercy flows to humanity. If not for God’s compassion, none of us would be alive today. Every day we wake up, it is His compassion that sustains us, not our strength, wisdom, or righteousness. Psalm 103:13-14

The story of Israel is filled with countless examples of God’s compassion. Even when they sinned and rebelled, He often showed mercy and gave them another chance (Nehemiah 9:31). This same compassion brought Jesus Christ into the world to save us from eternal destruction. John 3:16

Beloved, God’s compassion does not only preserve us; it also restores us when we fall. Like the psalmist, we can boldly say, “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy” (Psalm 145:8). Without His compassion, we would have been consumed by judgment.

Dear brethren, since God continually shows us compassion, He expects us to reflect that same compassion to others. As recipients of His mercy, we must be channels of His mercy. Compassion received must become compassion expressed. Matthew 18:33

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unending compassion that preserves my life. Help me to always remember Your mercy and extend the same compassion to others, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

Psalm 86:15 KJV– “But thou, O Lord, is a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.”

PRAYER POINTS

1. Heavenly Father, thank You for Your daily compassion that keeps me alive; help me never to forget Your mercy and goodness in my life, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

2. O Lord my Father, as You continually show me compassion, empower me to extend that same compassion to others, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

3. My Father and my God, let Your compassion restore every broken area of my life and lift me from every fall, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

4. Lord Jesus Christ, make me a vessel of Your mercy; let compassion flow through me to those in need of forgiveness, love, and restoration, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.
