THE POWER OF COMPASSION (PART 3)
KEY TEXT: Luke 15:20 KJV – “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.”

Compassion is a powerful force in forgiveness and reconciliation. In the parable of the prodigal son, the father’s compassion erased the son’s past mistakes and opened the door for restoration. The same way God shows us compassion daily, He expects us to extend compassion to others who wrong us. Lamentations 3:22-23
Unforgiveness is a prison, but compassion breaks those chains. A compassionate heart chooses mercy over vengeance, peace over strife, and reconciliation over bitterness. True compassion sees the offender not just for what they did, but for what God can make them become. Ephesians 4:32
Beloved in Christ, many relationships—whether in families, churches, or friendships—are broken because compassion is absent. When we choose to forgive with compassion, we release healing into wounded hearts and peace into troubled homes. Without compassion, offenses will pile up and bitterness will thrive, but with compassion, reconciliation becomes possible. Colossians 3:13
Brethren, let us imitate Christ, who forgave those who crucified Him, saying, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). That is compassion in its highest form.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, give me a heart of compassion to forgive freely and to reconcile with those who have offended me. Help me to reflect Your love and mercy in all my relationships, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
REFLECTION:
Matthew 18:33 KJV – “Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?”
