THE EFFICACY OF THE BODY AND BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST (PART 5)
KEY TEXT: 1 Corinthians 11:26 KJV: “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.”
THE BLOOD SEALS THE NEW COVENANT: Jesus declared, “This cup is the new testament in my blood” (1 Corinthians 11:25 KJV). His blood sealed the new covenant of grace, mercy, and eternal life. Every believer who drinks of the cup partakes of this covenant, which is far better than the old covenant of the law.
THE BODY PROCLAIMS HIS SACRIFICE: Every time we partake of the bread (body) and drink (blood), we proclaim the Lord’s death. The sacrifice of Jesus must never be forgotten. “This do in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19 KJV). Jesus Christ's broken body is a reminder of His suffering, His love, and His victory on the cross.
THE BLOOD PREPARES US FOR HIS COMING: Communion keeps the believer watchful and ready for the return of Jesus Christ. As Paul declared, “Ye do shew the Lord's death till he come” (1 Corinthians 11:26 KJV). Those who faithfully partake of His body and blood live in constant expectation of His glorious appearing.
REFLECTION:
Matthew 26:29 KJV: “But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, I thank You for making me a partaker of the new covenant through Your blood in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen (1 Corinthians 11:25)
2. Father, let me never forget the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen (Luke 22:19)
3. Lord Jesus, keep me watchful and ready for Your return as I partake of Your Holy table in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen (1 Corinthians 11:26)
