THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 6:12 KJV – “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

FACING TEMPTATIONS OF THE FLESH: One of the greatest battles a believer must overcome in pursuit of the Crown of Righteousness is the lust of the flesh. The enemy constantly entices through sinful desires, but victory is possible through the Spirit of God. A believer must crucify the flesh daily and walk in holiness to remain qualified. “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16 KJV).

RESISTING THE PRESSURES OF THE WORLD: The world offers pleasures, fame, and riches to lure believers away from the path of righteousness. But those who seek the crown must refuse conformity to the world’s system and stand firm in the Word of God. Separation from worldly patterns preserves one for eternal glory. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2 KJV).

STANDING AGAINST SATANIC OPPOSITION: Satan hates those who are pressing toward the crown and will stop at nothing to discourage, oppress, or deceive them. But Christ has given His children authority to overcome the enemy by faith and by His Word. Believers must stand strong, fully armed in God’s armour, to resist his attacks. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7 KJV).

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, strengthen me to overcome the lusts of the flesh, resist the pressures of the world, and stand victorious against the attacks of the enemy, that I may finish my race and obtain the crown, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

2 TIMOTHY 4:7 KJV – “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
