PREPARING FOR THE LAST DAYS

KEY TEXT: Hebrews 9:27 KJV: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

WHAT ARE THE LAST DAYS?: As believers, “the last days” can refer to several realities — the rapture of the saints (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17), the final judgment of Christ upon the world (Revelation 20:11–15), or even the final day of an individual’s life on earth (Hebrews 9:27). As believers, we must take heed, for if our personal “last day” comes before these global events, we must be found ready and right with God. Matthew 24:44

LAST DAY IN THE BIBLE: In the Bible, we see several examples of people whose lives ended suddenly or before what might be considered a full age. For example, many of the disciples were martyred for the name of Christ and left this earth early. No one in the world prays for an early exit, but when God says it is time, we must be spiritually prepared to meet Him. Revelation 2:10

PREPARE FOR THE LAST DAY: Therefore, prepare for the last days — whether it be the rapture, the final judgment, or your own final day on earth. None of us knows what tomorrow holds. Live each day as though it were your last. Be at peace with everyone. Be right with God. Keep your lamp burning with oil, and continually seek His grace to be perfected and complete in Him. Matthew 24:44

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus Christ, help me to be ready at all times. May I not be found unprepared when the day comes for me to meet You. In Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION:

Luke 12:35–36 KJV: “Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; and ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their Lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.”

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, give me the grace to live every day with eternal consciousness, so that I will always be spiritually prepared for the coming of Christ, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

2. Lord Jesus, purge my heart from every sin, distraction, and worldliness that can hinder my readiness for the last day, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

3. O Lord, strengthen my faith and keep my spiritual lamp burning with oil, that I may not be found empty or cold when You call me home, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

4. Father, help me to walk in peace, holiness, and obedience daily, so that whenever my appointed time comes, I will stand before You justified, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
