OVERCOMING THE FORCE OF BACKSLIDING (PART 5)

KEY TEXT: PETER 3:9 KJV: "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

THE POWER OF GOD''S SPIRIT: We cannot overcome backsliding on our own; we need the power of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit convicts, guides and empowers us to live according to God’s will. By seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we can avoid backsliding and grow in righteousness. "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh." (GALATIANS 5:16)

FAITH IN GOD''S UNFAILING LOVE: Even in our weakness, God’s love never fails. He is always faithful, and His love is steadfast. Trusting in God’s love gives us hope and confidence that, even if we stumble, He will restore us if we return to Him. "The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy." (PSALM 103:8)

LIVING IN VICTORY OVER BACKSLIDING: Through God’s grace, it is possible to overcome backsliding and live a victorious Christian life. By staying connected to God, being prayerful, studying His Word, and living by the Holy Spirit, we can avoid the pitfalls of backsliding and grow stronger in our faith. "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:57)

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, please give me victory over the force of backsliding and keep me safe in your presence, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: 1 JOHN 1:9 KJV: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
