KEY TEXT: ZECHARIAH 1:3 KJV: “Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.”

THE DECEITFULNESS OF SIN: Sin is enticing and often appears harmless at first. But when we indulge in sin, it hardens our hearts, leading us further away from God. The Bible warns us of the deceitful nature of sin, which pulls us away from our devotion. "But exhort one another daily… lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin." (HEBREWS 3:13)

CONSEQUENCES OF BACKSLIDING: Backsliding has serious consequences, affecting both our relationship with God and our spiritual health. It can bring guilt, shame, and loss of peace. The Bible likens backsliding to a dog returning to its vomit, showing the destructive nature of falling back into sin. "As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly." (PROVERBS 26:11)

GOD''S CALL TO RETURN: Despite our failures, God graciously calls us back to Him. He does not abandon His people even when they turn away. His love and mercy are always available, waiting for us to repent and return to His presence. "Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backsliding." (JEREMIAH 3:22)

PRAYER: O Lord my God, please deliver me from the force of backsliding and restore me back to my former place in you. Remove the reproach of backsliding from me, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. 

REFLECTION: JEREMIAH 3:12 KJV: “Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.”
