LESSONS FROM MARY AND MARTHA'S FAITH (PART 1)

KEY TEXT: John 11:21-22 KJV: “Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.”

Anyone that has the faith, and the love Mary and Martha had can never fall. Jesus Christ did not say that because He loved Mary and Martha he would do today what He was to do tomorrow. No! He had to wait for the appointed time to glorify Himself. The death of Lazarus never changed what Mary and Martha knew Jesus for, as they still called him Lord when he came to see them. JOHN 11:21

The message Christ taught them (that He is the resurrection and the life) never changed in their hearts. They never said that because of their brother’s death, Christ’s teaching was now lies. Unlike you who is already looking for an alternative, if Christ has not answered you. Look at Mary and Martha, what they prayed for never came instantly and when they called Jesus, He did not come, yet they still held on to Him. None of them suggested an alternative. JOHN 11:2

Even at death, they were still waiting for Jesus. Why? Because they knew Him, that all things were possible with Him. What situation would be worse than the one they went through? The man was dead and they had no need of calling Christ again. Yet, that did not change what they knew Him for. That did not change the message He had preached to them. Though Jesus Christ tarried for some days and allowed Lazarus to die, it was for a reason. If actually you are a child of God, there is nothing happening to you that God does not know. JOHN 11:40

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me where I've run up and down seeking for help, where there's no help. Give me the grace to joyfully wait on you alone, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION: Habakkuk 3:17-18 KJV: “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
