LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT (PART 7)
KEY TEXT: Hebrews 12:1 KJV: “…let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

Laying aside weights is not a one-time decision but a daily discipline. Every day presents new temptations, distractions, and opportunities for compromise. The believer must constantly evaluate his/her life to ensure that nothing is dragging him/her away from the path of righteousness. This is why Apostle Paul said, “I die daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31 KJV).
Many start the race well but fail because they refuse to continually cast off weights as they appear. The devil is clever at packaging old sins in new ways. If we are careless, we will find ourselves entangled again in the very things we once rejected. Therefore, vigilance is needed to maintain purity. Galatians 6:3
Daily self-examination, prayer, and the Word of God keeps the believer alert. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we can identify even the smallest weights and deal with them immediately. A consistent walk with God is the surest path to laying aside every burden. 1 Corinthians 11:28
PRAYER:
Father, give me the grace to examine myself daily and to die to sin continually, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
REFLECTION:
2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?”
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, give me the grace to die to sin daily. Let every desire that opposes Your will be crucified in my life, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen
2. O Lord, help me to examine myself every day. Open my eyes to see any weight, distraction, or compromise trying to return into my life, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen
3. Holy Spirit, keep me vigilant and alert. Deliver me from carelessness and from falling back into the sins I once overcame, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen
4. Lord Jesus, empower me to walk consistently with You. Let my daily prayer, the Word, and obedience keep me pure and steady on the path of righteousness, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
