LABOUR FOR THE HONOR FROM GOD
KEY TEXT: John 5:44 KJV: “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?”

LABOR NOT FOR THE HONOR OF MEN: Who do you seek honor from in your walk with God? Many labor in the church for the admiration and promotion of their leaders, not realizing that it is God who puts one down and sets another up. You should indeed honor the leader God has placed over you, but make sure you are not serving solely to gain human honor in the house of God. If your motive is only to be seen, praised, or elevated by men, you may face unexpected disappointment in the end. Colossians 3:23
THE VANITY OF THE HONOR OF THE WORLD: Do not seek honor from the world. The world’s honor is temporary and fades away. The honor the world gives cannot be compared to the honor that comes from God. All that is in the world—its praise, achievements, and glory—is vanity. It is not eternal but only temporary. Proverbs 27:24
ATTAINING THE HONOR FROM GOD: When Jesus Christ was on earth, He did not seek the honor that came from men, but the honor that came from God. This is what set Him apart. Because He sought the honor of the Father, He did not bow to the fear of man or strive to please people. Instead, He was bold and fearless, speaking the truth, knowing that the One above would grant Him the ultimate honor in the end. Will you also make this bold choice to seek the honor that comes from God alone? John 8:50
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus Christ, help me to labor for the honor that comes from you, O God, so that at last I shall receive the reward of those that do your will in my heavenly mansion at last, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
REFLECTION:
Romans 2:7 KJV: “To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.”
PRAYER POINTS:
1. My Father and my God, as I serve You, deliver me from the spirit of self-glorification; help me to labor for the honor that comes from You alone, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
2. O Lord, purge my heart from every desire to please men above pleasing You. Let my service and sacrifices bring You glory and not worldly recognition, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
3. Heavenly Father, grant me the grace to walk in humility and sincerity of heart, so that my labor in Your vineyard will attract Your eternal honor and reward, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
4. Lord Jesus Christ, let the passion to seek Your approval above human applause consume me daily. May I never be distracted by temporary praise or worldly reward, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
5. O God of Heaven, crown my faithful service with Your divine honor both now and in eternity. Let my name be found among those who patiently continue in well-doing, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
