FIGHT AND CONQUER THE SPIRIT OF BETRAYAL WITHIN YOU (PART 3)

KEY TEXT: Matthew 26:16 – “And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.”

If you are looking for an opportunity to betray a friend, brother or sister, who is innocently and freely moving with you, I counsel you to refrain from it. The spirit of betrayal is rooted in jealousy, envy and death. It will cause you to envy those who have been blessed by God, be jealous of them and eventually push you into actions that will destroy yourself and those close to you. Mark 15:10

Saul’s jealousy and envy towards David pushed him to plot against David, who was innocently fighting for Israel. If you don't confront that spirit within you, it will lead you to fight those who are fighting for you. It will make you destroy those defending you, making you vulnerable to the enemy. Uriah fought for David and Israel, but due to David’s betrayal, he was killed. 1 Samuel 18:17; 2 Samuel 11:14-17.

A betrayer will never enjoy the fruits of their betrayal and will ultimately hate themselves. The person you betrayed will never trust you again, and neither will those you sold them out to. The guilt of betraying someone who trusted you will haunt you forever. Judas' fate is a stark reminder of this. Matthew 27:5

REFLECTION:

Isaiah 33:1 – “Woe to you, destroyer, you who have not been destroyed! Woe to you, betrayer, you who have not been betrayed! When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord Jesus Christ, by Your Spirit empower me to overcome every spirit of envy and jealousy that will lead me to betray the innocent and destroy my soul, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

2. Holy Spirit, guard my heart and never let me give occasion to the flesh to rule over me, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

3. Lord Jesus, preserve my heart against pride, jealousy, and envy; deliver me from self-afflicted downfall and keep standing in your will till the end, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
