BEWARE OF BETRAYAL (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: MATTHEW 7:12 KJV- "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."

The story of Joseph and his brothers in Genesis is a powerful example of familial betrayal. Joseph's brothers, driven by envy, sold him into slavery, but God ultimately used their betrayal for good. "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good" (GENESIS 50:20).

Betrayal is not only a betrayal of trust but also an insult to God's commandment to love one another. Jesus taught that love is the fulfillment of the law, and betrayal undermines this divine principle. "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself" (MATTHEW 22:39).

The book of Proverbs frequently speaks of betrayal and warns against deceitful speeches and actions. "A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter" (Proverbs 11:13). This verse reminds us to value faithfulness over betrayal.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, grant me the genuine heart of love and contentment. Let no jealousy and envy have its way into my heart. In Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION: LUKE 22:48 KJV- "But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?"
