BE PATIENT FOR GOD’S APPOINTED TIME

KEY TEXT: HABAKKUK 2:3 KJV: “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

PATIENCE IN GOD’S TIMING: Did you know that the right thing at the wrong time can become harmful to a person? If a young child is given a knife, they may injure themselves—not because the knife is bad, but because using it at the wrong time can be dangerous. Similarly, if God grants you the answer to certain things you prayed for too soon, you may misuse it, and it could even work against you. Ecclesiastes 3:1

ABRAHAM’S MISTAKE: God’s timing is the best timing a person can wait for to receive the fullness of His promises. Unfortunately, Abraham is an example of someone who went ahead of God’s timing, bringing consequences that still affect the world today. Although God had promised him a child, Abraham took matters into his own hands and conceived a child with Hagar, his servant, instead of waiting on God. This decision ultimately brought distress to both Sarah and Abraham when they realized their mistake. Genesis 16:2

GOD’S TIMING: God is calling you not to run ahead of Him but to remain patient and wait for your appointed time. The Lord, who has promised, will fulfil His word and take all the glory for His slow and steady work in your life. Keep your hope alive. Habakkuk 2:3

PRAYER:

Lord, help me put my uttermost trust and patience in you, and surrender all my desires to you. Help me not run faster than your plan for me but patiently wait, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

ISAIAH 40:31 KJV: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
